J.A. Caulfield, his role as District Officer.

The documents below are courtesty of Prof. Seamus Caulfield. They refer to his family member J.A. Caulfield, who was the District Officer for No. 13 District. Among his duties were visits to check that the log-books were kept up to date, that the post was fully operational, with two men in attendance, one inside and one outside, in all weathers / day or night. His signature can be viewed on numerous occasions in the log-books, signed in red ink.

A week’s payment for each Coastwatcher was £1-14-8, (1 pound, 14 shillings and 8 pence) .
