Two bodies washed ashore

Two bodies washed ashore.

From Logbook LOP62_03 : 06/08/1940 : LOP63_02  incident 180, page 37.

“Two bodies towed to within 3 miles West of L.O.P. by 4 fishermen anchored inshore at Rinroe. Bodies unidentified “(Local Garda notified)

While we have no proof that these two men were passengers/internees on the SS Arandora Star, the dates of their being found sit within the dates of other identified bodies of men washed ashore that died when U-Boat 47 torpedoed the SS Arandora Star on 02/07/1940, 75 miles off Bloody Foreland, and not at 250 miles out at sea as was first reported.

We pay tribute to lives lost at sea in the particular tragedy that was the SS Arandora Star.
