The Donegal Air Corridor.
The Donegal Air Corridor was established in February 1941, a request from Britain to the Republic of Ireland to permit Allied aircraft to overfly neutral Irish Territory “At a good Height “ for access to and from Northern Ireland’s air and seaplane bases. This would significantly shorten the flights that were arriving from North America, also patrol flights, that were protecting North Atlantic Sea traffic and convoys across to the mid Atlantic gap, thus increasing their range and flight capacity.
