1 To be always alert watchful and quick to report.
2 To ensure that messages and reports convey a true and accurate picture of the matter reported on.
3 Never relax vigilance during tour of watch.
4 To remain at their post until relieved.
5 To ensure that message and reports are definite, simple, and brief.
6 To ensure they know the location of the nearest telephone.
7 To understand his mission what to report how to report and to whom to report.
8 To avoid giving information on his duties or information on the Coast Watching service to unauthorised persons particularly as to the location of the report centre for his LOP.
9 To accurately report in post Logbook all events, messages and incidents that occur during tour of the watch.
10 To establish the identity of all official visitors to the post before disclosing information or allowing inspection of post.
11 To prevent unauthorised persons from loitering in the vicinity of LOP.
12 To have no unnecessary exposure of light during night watches.
13 To be careful handling all instruments and to avoid damaging them.
14 To ensure that all post equipment is always clean and tidy.
15 To prefix an urgent telephone call with the words defense Priority when contacting the exchange.
16 To know the location of the local life-saving station.
17 To know where every member of the post lives.
18 To ensure when taking our duty that all articles mentored note post inventory book are there and unserviceable condition before signing it and to report therein any damages or discrepancy noted.
19 Post logbook has been written up to date and to question watches being relieved on any matter that may affect his watch.
20 To ensure when handing over that post logbook has been written up all instruments and equipment are handed over in clean and serviceable conditioning that the new watch signs the Inventory Book. All events that affect the new watch be brought to their notice. To record in LogBook prevailing weather conditions at the time of handing over.
